It was actually through my instagram account (www.instagram.com/mickhabgoodphoto) that Sandra had initially got in contact with me as she had been immersed in planning her wedding from abroad in their home in the United Arib Emirates. She had obviously applied a lot of though and preparation as the decorations in the monastery was chic and rustic throughout. There’s always a huge bonus for me to shoot weddings that have been ‘designed’ as there’s so much more to photograph and it really helps to capture the ambience of the day.
Monasterio del Espino is situated about an hours drive south of Bilbao in the province of Burgos. The winding road takes you up and over the beautiful hills and all of a sudden, you’re presented with an enormous and almost perfectly built structure situated amongst the local farming community. For several months of the year, the nuns vacate their premises to allow for the wedding season to flow. Inside, the once open-air patio has been converted with a glass roofing which provides an incredible space for the formal meal. And outside, area provides the most incredible space for an outdoor ceremony.
Lugar de preparación, ceremonia y la recepción: Monasterio del Espino, Santa Gadea del Cid.
